Do you want to have your say on how Hampshire Police is run?
Now you can, by applying to serve on the Hampshire Police and Crime Panel (PCP) – the body that scrutinises the performance and work of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire.
A co-opted independent member is currently being recruited by the panel, which maintains a regular check and balance on the performance of the commissioner and holds him to account in his post.
The panel is made up of 15 councillors – one from each of the local authorities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Three further councillors who are co-opted from local authorities help reflect Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’s political balance. There are an additional two independent non-councillor co-opted members on the panel – a vacancy for one of which has become available.
Chairman of the Hampshire Police and Crime Panel and Isle of Wight Councillor, David Stewart, said: “The role of a Panel member is an important and demanding one and we are seeking a committed and energetic resident to serve as a new co-opted independent member for a three year term.”
The closing date for applications is September 10. Formal appointments will be made on November 1. For more information about how to apply and to download an application pack, click here.
