Woman jailed for Locks Heath theft

A 28-year-old woman has been jailed for stealing cosmetics in Locks Heath while on a suspended prison sentence for two previous offences.

Ria Louise Clarke stole £287.41 worth of ladies cosmetic products from HJ Everett Chemist in Locks Heath Shopping Centre last Thursday (July 25)

Clarke of King Albert Street, Portsmouth was also sentenced for stealing various cosmetics worth between £400 and £500 from Superdrug in Portsmouth on May 19.

She was committed to prison for 28 days for each offence to run concurrently.

Sentencing her Portsmouth magistrates’ said they believed the offence was serious because of the defendant’s record of offending.

Clarke stole the products while on a six-week prison sentence suspended for six months imposed by South East Hampshire Magistrates’ Court on July 1. That sentence related to offences committed on June 29 when she stole meat and washing liquid valued at £65.14 from Co-Op on Elm Grove, Southsea. On the same day, she also stole two bottles of vodka, one bottle of rum, one bottle of whiskey and two bottles of brandy worth a total of £107.50 from Waitrose in Marmion Road, Southsea.
