Vandals attempted to damage a Park Gate cash point along with a number of other machines in the Southampton area in what police believe are linked offences.
Police have released CCTV photos of men they suspect of damaging ATM machines at branches of Barclays Bank across the south.
Machines at five branches have been targeted by men since July 9 attempting to remove anti-skimming devices from the machines.
The first attempt was at 11pm on July 9 at Portswood Road in Southampton.
Vandals then attacked the machine at Botley Road, Park Gate at 12.10am on July 10.
Four more attempts were made on July 11, where the vandals returned to Portswood Road at 1.10am and then moved on to Shirley Road, Southampton at 1.30am, Upper Market Street, Eastleigh at 2.28am and Lower Northam Road, Hedge End at 2.56am.
Overnight, between July 16 and17, another attempt was made at Barclays, Shirley Road, Southampton.
A spokesman for Barclays said: “There have been a number of occasions recently where our cash machines have been tampered with.
“We have sophisticated anti fraud mechanisms on our ATMs and in each case the machine has immediately closed down to protect customers from fraud.
“However, this does mean that the machines have then been out of action until our engineers can get to the site to make the necessary repairs.
“We do apologise to customers for the inconvenience this has caused and will co-operate fully with the police to help catch the people responsible.”
Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the men or who saw them at the bank branches to contact PC Peter Watson at Southampton Central on 101 or to ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
