Locks Heath couple charged with £950,000 nursery centre fraud

A man and woman from Locks Heath have been charge with fraudulently running PiXies Day Nursery amounting to £950,000.

Michael Scott, 61, and Marina Scott, 58, both of Grovebury, Locks Heath, were charged at Southampton Central Police Station on Friday (July 12) for Income Tax and National Insurance fraud estimated at £950,000.

Both were charged with an offence contrary to the Fraud Act, while operating as PiXies Day Nursery, which has centres in Woolston and Locks Heath, after an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Criminal investigators at HMRC arrested the duo in Locks Heath on November 3 last year on suspicion of Fraud Act offences.

Michael Scott was charged under section 4 of the Fraud Act 2006 and Marina Scott under section 3 of the Fraud Act 2006.

Almost 100 children attend PiXies Day Care Nursery in Locks Road, Locks Heath. The company was taken over after the Scotts were arrested.

The Scotts have been released on unconditional bail until August 9, when they are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
