The mother of a son whose £350 mountain bike was stolen in Locks Heathhas appealed for information on its whereabouts – and offered a reward for help locating it.

The 36-year-old from Sarisbury Green has asked anyone with information that will help locate the bike to contact her and they will be given a £50 reward.

“He left it with his friends’ bikes as he went to the club,” she said. “I think his friends went home and when he came out of the centre it was gone.

“I think unfortunately my son trusts people too easily. We asked his friends who don’t know where it is. The night it was stolen me and my other son drove around everywhere looking for it. But it was like a ghost-town – no-one was around.

“It was left to the right of the Genesis Centre’s entrance, but they said there is no CCTV there. I asked the Locks Heath Shopping Centre to have a look to see if the person who took it might have ridden across the centre. They didn’t find anything.

“It was a very expensive bike. Ryan was so excited to get it for Christmas last year. It’s only 10 months old.

“He’s so upset that it went. It might be a case where somebody is trying to sell a bike that looks like it and it might ring a bell to someone who was tried to be sold a bike.

“Hopefully we can reunite Ryan with his bike.”

It has been described as similar to the bike in the picture – a white bike but with alloy rims instead of white ones like in the photo.

The bike also has a small chip on the top front of the frame near the handlebar stem. It was not chained up.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “We can confirm a 15-year-old boy has contacted police to report the theft of his bicycle from the rear of Genesis Youth Club in Locks Heath on the evening of Thursday, September 26, 2013.

“Witnesses or anyone with information can contact Park Gate Police Station by phoning 101.”
