Warsash man’s chicken and toothpaste shoplifting spree

A Warsash man who went on a day-long shoplifting spree across the south taking chicken, coffee and toothpaste has been ordered to pay compensation to two shops.

Richard James Horne, 32, of Dibles Park in Dibles Road stole 22 packs of toothpaste from Lloyds Pharmacy in Gosport valued at £75.64.

He stole five jars of Gold Blend coffee, 10 Nescafe pouches and eight chicken breasts – which cost £119.32 – from Tesco Express in Pier Street, Lee-on-the-Solent.

He took a further eight packs of chicken breasts valued at £40 from Iceland supermarket in Stubbington Green.

All the items were stolen last Friday (March 15).

Horne pleaded guilty to the thefts when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court.

He was ordered to pay £38.32 compensation to Tesco Express and £40 to Iceland.
