CCTV footage has been released of a couple thought to be watching an assault on a Locks Heath man who suffered dangerous head injuries.

A 19-year-old man from Locks Heath was punched to the ground near the rear entrance of Junk Nightclub at the corner of Winchester Street and Salisbury Street in Southampton after midnight on the morning of Friday, August 30.

The victim was treated at Southampton General Hospital, where it was discovered he suffered a bleed on the brain.

It is believed the offender became involved in a larger fight with several other people.  Detectives want to locate a group of Asian men who were in the area at the time and may have been approached by the offender and his friends.

Police have released the footage urging the blonde woman in short shorts or a short skirt and the man with her to come forward.

Shirley detectives believe the couple – who were seen leaving Junk Nightclub at the time victim was punched – may have vital information for the police.

Detective Constable Abigail Leeson said: “There were many people in the street at the time of the incident, watching what was going on. If this was you, please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Leeson at Shirley CID on 101 or to ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
