Michael Scott, 61, and Marina Scott, 58, have been charged with income tax and national insurance fraud contrary to the Fraud Act, while operating as PiXies Day Nursery – which has centres in Woolston and Locks Road, Locks Heath – after an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

They spoke only to confirm their names and date of birth when they appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

The pair of Grovebury, Locks Heath, were told the case would be heard at Southampton Crown Court.

Criminal investigators at HMRC arrested the couple in Locks Heath on November 3 last year on suspicion of Fraud Act offences.

Michael Scott was charged under section 4 of the Fraud Act 2006 and Marina Scott under section 3 of the Fraud Act 2006.

The Scotts were released on unconditional bail until September 3, when they are due to appear at Southampton Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
